This program is for beginner weight lifters (45 years and older) who want to be taught proper techniques.  The goal of this program is to help people become more independent.  Weights will be available.  The class will teach proper use of weights; increases your stength, bone density and balance and give you more energy.  The class consists of 12 classes.

Dates: Mondays's & Wednesday's, May 10 through June 16.

Time: 4:30 - 5:30 PM.

Place: Cassia County Extension Office, 1013 West 16th Street, Burley.

Cost: $20.00

Beginning Guitar(late Enrollments Accepted) (6:30 pm)
In this class you will learn how to tune-up, play simple songs, basic guitar and musical skills and how to continue self teaching in guitar. Students must have own electric or acoustic guitar and be able to devote some time each night for home practice. By the end of this course you will know if guitar is the instrument for you.

Intermediate Guitar ( Late Enrollments Accepted (7:30 pm)

Prerequisites for this class include knowing how to tune up and play a simple song. Music reading is NOT required. Student must have own acoustic or electric guitar and be willing to dedicate some time each night to home practice.

Oregon Trail Muzzleloaders 29th annual Rendezvous is being held at Mill Flats up North Heglar Canyon June 18, 19 & 20th.  Come up and bring the whole family and join in on the fun.  There will be Muzzleloader and knife and hawk trail walks, paper shoots, Primitive Archery, shotgun shoot and don't forget the kids games. There will also be a raffle so don't forget to get your tickets. 

Come up and bring a food dish and enjoy the wonderful dutchoven cooking at the pot luck on Friday night and stay over night for the fun Saturday and sit around the fire on Saturday night and listen to the stories and entertainment.

Students will use a 9"x 14" drawing of objects such as princesses, cars, dragons, and unicorns to color and design using the process of illumination. Students will use metallic pens, colored pencils, and markers to create a design suitable for framing.

HO/Hyperlite will be in Burley at the Lex Kunau Park with all of their 2010 skis, boards, and boots for you to demo and purchase. Pro rider Jimmy LeRiche will also be there to sign your gear and will perform for everyone to see. So save the date and come have some fun with HO/Hyperlite!!

Jimmy LeRiche will be doing clinics for $150 for full day & $85 for half day lunch included.

Fit, Food And Fun In The Park (10:30 am - 11:30 am)
Fit, Food and Fun in the Park is the name given to the summer reading program activities held at Storybook Park. This program is a partnership between Cassia Regional Medical Center, Burley Public Library and the Cassia County Schools. It is free and open to all children in Burley! All kids are invited to come by for fun games, activities, a story and stay for a free lunch. (Lunch provided to all children between the ages of 1 and 18; parents may purchase a lunch, if they wish)

Summer Day Camp/City Of Rocks (8:30 am - 2:00 pm)
@ the City of Rocks/Almo, Id.  Kids, discover park secrets through education and fun. Day camp for children 7 to 11 years old will be held 8:30 a.m. to noon on June 22nd and June 24th and 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on June 26th. Lunch will be provided on the third day. Summer Trail Ride/City Of Rocks (All Day)
@ Castle Rocks State Park/Almo, Id.  Experience the splendor and solitude of Castle Rocks from horseback. This ranger-guided trail ride will take participants around the geologic area to dramatic vistas. The group will meet back at the Ranch House for and "Old West" catered dutch oven lunch. Participants may bring their own horse or make prior arrangements to rent one from Indian Grove outfitters in Almo. Space is limited and reservation is required. Fee is $20. per person.

Boy Scouts Of America (7:00 pm - 8:00 pm)
Boy Scouts of America go into meetings for Tiger Cubs, Wolfs, Bears, and Eagles Scouts at the Methodist Church in Burley off of 27th Ave.  It is very fun for the boys and their families.  The young men work hard and experience new life skills, after they achieve requirements they will earn their badges for their uniforms.  It is a proud moment for all!  If you or someone you know are interested in attending these meeting, please contact John Paul the Den Master at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
