“WON BY ONE” The 2015 Women’s Seminar and Expo is set for April 23, 2015 at the Best Western Plus Burley Inn. We have exciting seminars and demonstrations lined up and we are looking learn all the great things they will share with us. The schedule is:
Diane Bevan: Diane Bevan has been married to Keith for 24 years and is a mother of 4 busy children with her oldest at Boise State. She has been involved in weddings and catering since her college days at BYU in the late 80’s. In college, she would often move out her furniture just to host dinner parties in her small apartment. (which is how she met her husband, he was a roommate of her boyfriend who brought him to a dinner party) Majoring in clothing/textiles and starting her first wedding business making custom veils and bridal wear while still in college, jumpstarted her lifelong career as an entrepreneur. She owned the Sweetheart Manor Event Center and Formalicity “Magic Valley’s largest prom and bridal store. She started catering originally as a supplement to her custom sewing business as a necessity to her clients on the fly. She has a flair for pageants and holds the title of Mrs. Southern Idaho 2011 and Mrs. Magic Valley 2012 and has participated in the Mrs. Idaho International pageant finishing in the top 5 and the Mrs. Idaho America pageant receiving awards for Community Involvement and Volunteer Service. She claims that she is not a professional chef but a cook with a really good palette. She is always inventing better and faster ways to make meals. She has actively catered business events, holiday dinners and weddings full time for the last six years. She has 20 years of food experience and is often found in the kitchen. Jan Mittleider: Jan is a Professor Emeritus from the College of Southern Idaho where she served as a volleyball coach, a community wellness advocate and a champion of active aging programs throughout the state. She is the founder of the Over 60 and Getting Fit Program for older adults which have served as a wellness partnership model for other communities. Wellness is extremely important to Jan and she is a wellness consultant and co-author for the Fit and Fall Proof peer educator program supported by health departments throughout Idaho. An active community volunteer, she serves on the Idaho Commission for the Arts, The CSI Board of Trustees, the Magic Valley Arts Council and the executive board of the Full Moon Gallery, a cooperative art gallery on the Snake River Canyon Rim. She is also a travel group leader whose next trip is France in late September. Jan is passionate about travel, photography, hiking in the canyon, hanging out with her husband Leon Smith, children and 4 grandchildren. Alice Schenk: Alice graduated from Minico in 1976, Boise State in 1982, and Idaho State in 1997 with a Masters degree in Health. She currently teaches the 'Over 60 & Getting Fit' class in Rupert for the College of Southern Idaho. Alice has a passion for God, her husband, family, health and fitness. She's been an avid runner all of her life, covering over 50,000 miles to date. When she ventured into triathlons at the age of 47, she hadn't swam in 30 years. To date, she has completed four Ironman triathlons, over 30 marathons and next month she will run her 5th Boston Marathon. After a 50K Ultramarathon in Chicago, she competed in the solo division of the Sawtooth Relay twice, covering the 62.8 mile event and setting a new record for women in that event. Alice has been married to Wayne for 33 years. He farms north of Paul. Ben Nelson: Ben Nelson, originally from Anchorage, Alaska, obtained his BA in Economics from Brigham Young University (Provo, Utah). While there, he met his wife-to-be, who is from Oakley, Idaho. They are happy to make their home in the Mini-Cassia area, where they enjoy all the wonderful things that Southern Idaho has to offer them. Ben enjoys being actively involved in the community. Some of the areas he serves in are: President of the Oakley Recreation District, and Assistant District Governor for Rotary. He also serves on the Oakley Valley Water Board and the Oakley Library Board. Ben sits on multiple committees for the Mini-Cassia Association of Realtors; and is actively involved with the Mini-Cassia Chamber of Commerce, where he serves as President of the Ambassadors. Ben is also actively involved in his local church. Ben has over 14 years of banking experience currently serving as VP Sales Manager. He has received multiple awards that demonstrate his hard work and dedication to his customers, including the Times News Reader's Choice Gold Award as the Top Mortgage Lender in the Magic Valley, the USDA Rural Development Certificate of Appreciation as the Top Lender in Southern Idaho, and the Idaho Housing Quarterly Lender Award. There are over 50 vendors that will be participating this day as well. The Expo will begin at 10:00am and go until 3:00pm. We are excited about this wonderful event and encourage you all to attend or send the women in your office. (It is the week of administrative professional’s week and what a great way to say “Thank You for all you do”.)
